A Marblehead Class Pond Model
Robert S. Djoiup; ca. 1945
The hull of the model built up in plank-on-frame construction with mahogany planking on pine frames. Fitted with a swept-back mahogany keel and lead weight. The rudder is attached to a skeg which is attached to the hull. The deck of the model is of veneer and fitted with numerous fittings which include: stem fitting, traveler bars, adjustable mast step, chain plates, fairleads, turning blocks, quadrant, and other details. The model is sloop rigged with mast, jib boom and boom stays, adjustable halyards, turnbuckles, sheet sliders, original sails (fair condition) and numerous other details. The model is displayed on the original stand. Accompanying the model is a medal by Dieges & Clust from The New York Community Trust, and given by the Department Of Parks - The City Of New York/Model Yachting 1945. In addition there is the original bill of sale from the maker to Charles N. Lurie, in the amount of $55, and dated June 10, 1946.
