According to tradition, these three baskets descended in the family of Sidney Starbuck, Nantucket, MA. Sidney Starbuck (1841-1910) was the grandson of Joseph and Sally Starbuck and son of George and Elizabeth Starbuck. In 1837, Joseph Starbuck built three houses on Main Street for his sons; George and Elizabeth lived with their seven children in the west house. The baskets were left to the present owner by Sidney's widow.
