Between 1953 and the artist's death in 1979, Paul and Jessie Maze lived at Mill Cottage in Treyford, near Midhurst, West Sussex. A comparable view of Mill Cottage garden under snow, also executed in 1977, is illustrated in A. Singer, Paul Maze The Lost Impressionist, London, 1983, p. 80.
