with a moulded twin plank top and cabled frieze, above a central moulded panel and pair of doors, each carved with a double-heart motif and between scroll carved uprights, flanked by ring turned columns, with a scrolling frieze and on block and ring turned legs joined by an undertier, the front right leg renewed

The bold carving of this piece is typical of a group of Gloucestershire furniture, e.g the distinctive cabled frieze which is found on a chair and a chest illustrated in Oak Furniture from Gloucestershire and Somerset, Temple Newsam, 1976, Cat. Nos. 1,12. The double-heart motif is also found in this group, e.g Temple Newsam op. cit, Cat.No. 8
