A Continental porcelain encrier
modelled as a shaped oval basket with two pierced handles, moulded to the centre with two raised pierced circular stands, each with a gilt-metal-mounted ogee-shaped well, domed cover and glass liner, either side of two shaped oval panels, painted with couples in landscapes alternating triangular pink-scale-ground panels between gilt scroll sections, late 19th century (finials chipped off, rubbing to gilding) -- 28.5cm. diam.
