AFTERNOON SESSION AT 2:00 P.M. PRECISELY Illustrated lots are indicated by an asterisk ENGLISH COINS The following 42 coins are from the famous Vogel collection. They were purchased on behalf of an English collector by Spink at the auction, conducted by Adolph Hess, Frankfurt, on 16 April 1928. Each coin is sold with the relevant Hess numbered envelope, and (except lots 452 and 453), with the original written, 'gold-rimmed', collector's ticket. Lot 453 is particularly interesting. While most of the Pennies of Aethelred II cost 10 Marks or less, this Penny, in the name of Offa, cost 625 Marks.
