The case with handle to inverted bell top, glazed sides, foliate pierced and chased gilt-metal quarter frets to the front door with gilt-metal fillets to the glass and gilt-metal escutcheon, the moulded base on brass bun feet, the dial signed Saml: Cox Long Acre London. on a silvered plaque in the matted centre with calendar aperture and blocked false pendulum aperture, silvered chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, Indian-and-foliate spandrels, regulation ring in the arch, the five pillar twin gut fusee movement with pull quarter repeat on six bells and hour strike on further bell, re-converted verge escapement, the back-plate neatly engraved with scrolling foliage with central basket of fruit
