A Meissen pot-pourri vase
Circa 1750, blue crossed swords mark and incised 45
Modelled by J.J. Kändler as a basket-work moulded baluster vase with pierced neck, painted with a moth and insects in a trefoil panel supported on rockwork surrounded by naturally flowering branches and with a pale-brown monkey leaning against the vase near the shoulder, on a four-footed scroll-moulded base lightly enriched with gilding and applied with a lady and putto seated beside a basket of flowers (monkey's right forearm and left hand restored, some restoration to rockwork, to one foot and back of base, chipping and restoration to some flowers)
