Two Dutch Delft Dorée two-handled butter-boxes and covers
Circa 1710, iron-red 3 to interior of second
Each formed as a shallow circular bucket decorated in the Oriental manner, the short handles with pierced apertures, the finials of the flat covers formed as snails on leaf terminals, the first decorated in iron-red, turquoise, pink and gilding, the iron-red and gilt foliage ground of the flat cover reserved with baskets of flowers in semi-circular panels and boating figures in circular panels, the snail enriched with yellow on a turquoise leaf terminal, the sides similarly decorated between moulded borders, the second decorated in iron-red, green, pink and gilding, the cover with boating figures in lobed semi-circular panels and bouquets in circular panels, the snail on a green leaf terminal (the first with minute fritting to rim of cover, the second with handle restuck and with minute rim chip, cover with minute fritting to rim and terminal)
