General Manager of the BASEL World Watch and Jewellery Show
The World Watch and Jewellery Show, held in Basel for almost 30 years, celebrated the year 2000 by launching the BASEL Award, an international jewellery design competition. Conceived in a spirit of solidarity, it is intended to pave the way towards a professional career for youthful designers. The ten talents revealed in the first edition have had the good fortune to see their creations crafted by major brands representing some of the most prestigious in the world. Today, it is my privilege to hand over the results of this exceptional joint venture, in order for them to be sold on behalf of Global Harmony.
Based on the theme "In Harmony with Nature" imposed on candidates, most of the jewellery you are about to discover is imbued with a sense of optimism and spirituality. It speaks of life, of its power and the mystery of its origins, of the four seasons that mark its cadence, or again of harmony, faith in the future, and even of a certain form of paradise. What more could one hope for to support the humanitarian values so ardently defended by Sir Peter Ustinov?
Speaking for all participants in the BASEL Award, I am thrilled to be able to make a contribution to implementing some of Global Harmony's projects and I would much appreciate a show of great generosity from all those who will be raising the bidding.
