A RARE PAINTED POTTERY FIGURE OF A DANCING LADY

The slender figure wearing a tightly fitted white robe, held together at the waist with a red band, revealing several layers under the robe painted in red at the V-shaped neckline and at the hem-line, flaring outward from the knees towards the feet, concealing one shoe and disclosing the other, the arms raised in front of her, the long quilted sleeves covering both hands and enhanced with red pigments in the heavy folds, the face modelled with strongly marked nose and eyes, the black hair combed back tightly into a thick knot at the nape of the neck, traces of white, red, pink and black pigments remaining
