Cast by Victor Paillard, Paris, Third quarter 19th Century
Comprising a mantel clock and a pair of nine-branch candelabra: the clock as a pedestal surmounted by a female bust, with a pair of putti offering up fruit below, the case surmounted by a pair of doves, the enamel dial with Roman numerals and Arabic minute divisions, signed VTOR PAILLARD/FT. DE BRONZES/A PARIS, the twin-train movement with countwheel striking on a bell, on scrolled base cast with fruit and foliate swags and on paw feet, on shaped rectangular plinth on toupie feet; the candelabra each as a putto supporting a central stem, with eight further foliate-cast branches, on circular spreading laurel and acanthus-cast base with female mask to the front and on paw feet
