These prints were produced in 1988 when the the original negative was restored in preparation for the film's re-release. David Lean selected forty images from the original negative, these were then made up into five sets of eight.

This particular set was presented by David Lean to the Director of Marketing for the Cineplex Odeon in Washington, one of the cinemas selected to show the 1988 re-release. This lot is accompanied by a letter from the vendor explaining the circumstances.
