This model of armchair with its undulating square back and serpentine seat rail is typical of Genoese production. A related chair (one of a pair) is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago and is illustrated in L. Canonero, Barocchetto Genovese, Milan, 1962, Tav. XIV.
