Each inlaid overall with boxwood and ebonised lines and crossbanded in tulipwood, the D-shaped hinged top inlaid with a fan medallion flanked by ribbon-tied hung husks and enclosing a green baize-lined playing-surface enclosing a simulated fluted frieze, on square tapering legs and block feet, restorations and replacements to feet

Designed in the George III 'antique' manner, these 'pier' card-tables are intended to accompany mirrors, so that their elliptical tops and inlaid demi-paterae are reflected as oval medallions. A related pattern with Apollo-sunflower medallion features in A. Hepplewhite & Co.'s The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788, pl. 65.
A related satinwood card-table with similarly inlaid frieze to simulate fluting, was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 23 May 1980, lot 236.
