A Clignancourt Paris gilt and grisaille coffee and tea service
Circa 1785, marked in gilt with an elaborate B within a L for the manufacture de monsieur
Painted by George Lamprecht with pastoral scenes (scènes champêtres) in grisaille, decorated in the neoclassical style with twisted rope border, the edges enhanced in gilt, comprising;
- a baluster coffeepot and cover, decorated with hunting scenes, the neck with interlaced rings, with loop handle, the gilt flat cover with a ball finial, 27,5cm. (10 7/8 in.) high
- an oval teapot and cover, decorated; to the front with a peasant dance after Teniers, the reverse with a don Quichottesque figure, his burdened donkey and a sheep, with loop handle, with tiny circular cover en suite, 24cm. (9 3/8 in.) wide
- a balustroid milkjug decorated with a ram, a sheep and a boy teasing a crippled beggar, the generous spout enhanced with scrolls, with loop handle
- an oval two-handled sugarbowl and cover, decorated with a carriage on a bridge and two wayfarers meeting two beggars, with ring handles, the domed cover en suite with flower finial
- a slopbowl, decorated with a continuous scene of a flock of sheep and shepherds, further with a hunter shooting at ducks, the inside with meandering foliage
- six cylindrical cups and saucers, decorated with various scenes to the cup and saucers

Pierre Deruelle managed the manufacture de monsieur, which was under the protection of Louis-Stanislas-Xavier Comte de Provence, brother of Louis XVI
This manufacture was well known for its monochrome and gilt painting of a very high standard
