HARRY FURNISS (1854-1925)
A collection of seven letters, signed 'Harry Furniss', dating from 9 November 1888 to 20 November 1891, six to Mr Barclay, one to Mr White, 18pp, 8°, the first regarding his work at Punch, including six amusing caricatures of himself in various guises depicting him, amongst others, at work with Mr Punch poking him with a quill, golfing and 'On the Wine', together with a caricature of a gentleman wearing women's boots, initialled and dated 'H.F. 1890'; and a menu card from the House of Commons dated Thursday 22nd January 1891 inscribed with a humorous anecdote entitled 'How I became a Knight? Locuitur "Sir" Somers Vine. Secretary to the Lord Mayor' with a pencil caricature of the aforesaid gentleman on the reverse (creased).
