Wen Quxing is also known as Wen Chang, a historical figure who became deified as God of Literature; and together with Guandi, the God of War, these two popular figures were incorporated into Daoism. Wen Quxing is often accompanied by his assistant, Guixin, a dwarf with the face of a demon who is sometimes portrayed bearing writing tablets.
