A RARE FINELY CARVED JADE PHOENIX WEIGHT

The phoenix modelled in the round with the bird's head turned towards its long tail feathers curled at the tips, its wings slightly outspread, the body finely incised to depict details of the plumage and feet carved in shallow relief, the stone of a celadon tone suffused with russet inclusion

A very similar example modelled with its head preening its feathers, sold in these Rooms, 13 January 1987, lot 221, illustrated by R.
