After studying two years in Rome under Thorwaldson, Park returned to Glasgow to begin his career. Park exibited at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1839-1855 and at the Royal Academy from 1836-1855.

Ritchie exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1830-1868 and at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1825-1869. He was particularly well known for his portrait busts.
