This drawing has been restored; new paper has been added to replace damaged areas, chiefly on the left side. The signature and date were transcribed from the original sheet during the restoration process and are not by the hand of the artist.

A photo-certificate from Wanda de Guébriant dated Paris, March 22, 1995, accompanies the drawing, which is listed as no. J137 in the Henri Matisse archives.
