George Vernon assumed the surname and arms of Venables in 1728 upon inheriting the estates of his maternal ancestors. In 1762, he was created first Lord Vernon, Baron of Kinderton, Anne Lee was his second wife and came from a Buckinghamshire family prominent in politics. They married on December 22, 1741 and Anne died without issue less than a year later.
