A 4-inch (10.2cm.) diameter tin lunar globe made up of twelve chromolithographed paper gores showing detailed landscape of the moon, the equatorial graduated in degrees, various mountains, seas and landing points shown, printed with TENTATIVE APOLLO TIMETABLE for flights 11 to 19, many never carried out, detailing date (1969-1974), flight commander, lunar module pilot and commanding ship pilot, signed in the northern hemisphere in black felt-tip pen by Gene Cernan Apollo XVII, with moulded blue plastic meridian half circle divided in two quadrants and graduated in degrees, on circular ebonised tin base with sticker underneath for MADE IN JAPAN -- 6.1/8in. (15.5cm.) high, in original cardboard box with picture of globe and advertising FLIGHTS 11 thru 199! 5 YEAR TIMETABLE HANDY TV REFERENCE EDUCATIONAL DECORATIVE with leaflet detailing the Apolo timetable with information regarding specific destination and mission and alternate flights and back-up missions, also with certificate of authenticity pertaining to the signature, signed by Charles A. Gene Cernan was the commander of the Apollo 17 mission, which accomplished the sixth and last manned moon landing of the Apollo Program on 11 December 1972. He became the eleventh human to set foot on, and the last human to leave, the surface of the moon. His footprints will be the last made on the lunar surface in the twentieth century.
