Laid down at the end is a one-page autograph letter from J. M. Barrie, signed, dated April 29, 1903, to a W. [?]Cardew, stating, 'Dear Sir, I thank you for your letter but must return your manuscript as I can assure you that my own version of my story was intended to be not beyond the understanding of children, Yours truly, J. M. Barrie.'
