This stand is a fashionable statement with an elaborately turned shaft and ornately decorated bird's-eye maple top. Ornamented with a cockbeaded edge outlined with a mahogany band with ebony and lightwood inlay, a combination which is echoed in the central oval reserve, this New Hampshire stand is one of the finer examples of its type. In keeping with the many examples from the region, the underside of the top reveals a wooden rather than brass latch and in a manner often associated with New Hampshire furniture, the underside retains its orginal red wash.
