A rare Steiff 'Petsy' bear
with brown tipped cream mohair, comical blue and black moveable glass eyes, large ears, centre seam to face, beige stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, long jointed shaped limbs, felt pads, hump and button in ear with hint of white label --18in. (46cm.) tall, circa 1928 (mohair slightly matted overall, wear to lower back, wear to areas of body and outer arms, tips of paws and feet)

The Steiff Petsy began life as 'Buschy' and Registered at the Patent Office in January 7, 1928. However the name 'Buschy' did not win favour with consumers and in November of the same year his name changed to 'Petsy', His comical eyes were designed so they would be moved into any position and expression.
