It is interesting to note the similarities of this polar bear to the polar bear Steiff launched with the newly developed head mechanism designed by Franz Steiff. After Steiff patented the design they encountered a legal battle with Strunz who copied the design and also claimed to have patented the idea prior to Steiff. The legal courts resulted in a verdict against Strunz.
