The Great Match Race for $10,000 was run at The Hudson County Jockey Club on 28 Septebmer 1893. Marcus Daly's Tammany with Garrison up beat G. Walbaum's Lamplighter with Taral up by four lenghts in a time of 2:06 for the 1 miles.

Bred by General W. H. Jackson and foaled in 1889, Tammany by Iroquois out of Tullahoma by Great Tom won purses totaling $113,290 and won the Lawrence Realization, the Lorillard Stakes, the Withers Stakes, and the Jerome Handicap.

Bred by O. H. Chenaut, Lamplighter by Spendthrift out of Torchlight by Speculum won 29 races and total purses of $88,545.
