In 1933, at the age of twenty-four, Errol Flynn returned to England from Australia and shortly afterwards joined the Northampton Repertory Company for a six-month stint. Flynn then participated in the Malvern Festival, an annual four-week festival devoted to theatre and music involving various plays, concerts, lectures and talks. Flynn appeared in five plays during the festival's run, A Man's House, Doctor Faustus, Saint Bernard, The Moon in the Yellow Rover and Mutiny. It was shortly after this that he landed his first leading role in a British film Murder At Monte Carlo, this led him to Hollywood and his first major success with Captain Blood, 1935, starring opposite Olivia de Havilland.
