This is a standard form of the so-called 'Männleinleuchter' or candlestick in the form of a man. An example can be seen in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum in Munich (Jarmuth 1967, loc. cit.); its popularity was attested to by the fact that it was much copied in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
