Willinges, born in Oldenburg and active in Lbeck since 1587, is supposed to have travelled to Venice as Titian's influence is evident. Other drawings by him are in the Graphische Sammlung, Munich, the British Museum, London, and in the Kobberstikkabinett, Copenhagen, H. Geissler, Zeichnung in Deutschland, Deutsche Zeichner 1540-1620, exhib. catalogue, Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, 1979, II, nos. N9-11, illustrated. Another is in the Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin, S. Gross, Zeichnungen des deutschen Barock, Berlin, 1996, no. 89, illustrated.
