The following lots, 117 to 167, have been selected for auction at CHRISTIE'S as a result of an extensive competitive tasting held in April at VINITALY 1996. An international panel of distinguished judges (see below) conducted the tasting and, following successive stringent selections , the wines that appear below were finally chosen to best represent the excellence and diversity of Italian wine-making in the 1990s. Christie's would like to pay special thanks to Marinella Calogiuri of the B.Q. Agency of Verona for contributing so much to this event

The "La Corda della Briccolina" vineyard is located in the commune of Serralunga d'Alba, the heart of the classic Barolo zone. Vinification methods include skin contact for around 20 days, long fermentation and ageing in barriques
