Carved floral designs with lily flowers are extremely rare and no other examples of this pattern appear to have been published. The composition and fluid design compares favorably to a dish of slightly smaller size carved with a large lotus bloom illustrated in Sekai Toji Zenshu, vol. 12, pl. 199.
