The present work appears to be a studio version of the work sold at Christie's, London, June 11, 1971, lot 92 (13,000gns.) previously in the collection of Sir Abraham Hume, Ashridge Park (see W.G. Constable, Canaletto, 1962 (and subsequent editions), I, pl. 309; II, no. 309).
