Another version of the present lot of similar size and also signed and dated 1760 was exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1761, no. 83. That picture and its pendant served as models for tapestries by Michel-Henri Cozette made at the Gobelins factory, Paris and were praised by Diderot in his Salon de 1761 (D. Diderot, Salon de 1761, ed. by J. Seznec and J. Adhémar, I, 1957, pp. 95-6 and 130-1).
