Containing forty-six round and circular-cut diamonds--6½ in, A.S Moller
Basse taille enameling is the process of fusing colored glass in powdered form to a surface of a metal. Basse taille, which literally means low relief, involves the application of enamels to a previously chased, chisled or engraved metal base so that the design appears in relief. Once the translucent enamel is arranged over the design to form a flat surface, it is then fired; yielding a rich result of tone further enhancing a finely crafted design. This labor intensive process originates from 12th century Italy, and has been employed by several master craftsmen overtime, some examples can be seen in the works produced by the important houses as those of Faberge, Cartier, Tiffany, Child & Child, and Marcus.
