According to the consignor's information, this blanket was originally collected by Henry Huesmann (b. 1851 in Denmark) who came to the United States as a young boy in 1863 and settled in St. Louis. In 1870 he moved to Colorado where he was given two blankets by an Indian woman. Huesmann gave this blanket to his sister-in-law upon his return to St. Louis and it remained in the family through the 1970's.
