The arms are those of Robert, 1st Lord Carrington, born in 1752. He sat as M.P. for Nottingham 1779-1797 and was elevated to the peerage in 1796. He married in 1780 Anne, daughter of Lewyns Barnard, who died in 1827. He married, as his second wife, Charlotte, daughter of John Hudson in 1836. He died in 1848.
