Paul Storr, England's greatest Regency silversmith, formed a partnership with his assistant John Mortimer from 1822 until Storr's death in 1838. Their export business must have been sizeable, because they opened a retail store in New York in the 1830s. This venture, however, was apparently short-lived, as extant pieces of silver bearing their New York mark are very rare.
