来源
Valentine Everit Macy (1871-1930), capitalist, philanthropist, and collector of Persian and oriental art, of New York; thence by descent to the present owner

This cup was presented to Valentine Macy on his twenty-first birthday in 1892. At the time, Macy was a student in Columbia University's College of Architecture, and received his degree in 1893. Macy's interest in eastern art was apparently established by the time he visited the far east on his wedding trip in 1896. The fact that the present cup is in the Persian style suggests that Macy had an influence in its design. This cup, the only one of this pattern recorded in Tiffany's archives, originally cost $950. Macy's collection of Persian miniatures and oriental porcelain is now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Macy moved to Westchester County, where he served as Commissioner of Charities and Corrections, and as President of the Park Commission.
