An Attic black-figure "Droop" cup
Circa 550-540 B.C.
The black interior with broad line around rim, reserved central disc containing two concentric circles and dot, the exterior with black lip, body with three bands of reserved decoration: frieze of cross-linked lotus buds with dots between lines, vertical zigzags between circles and a band of rays around the foot with three circles, the top of stem stepped with red fillet at join with body, (intact, very fine condition and surface, slight uneven firing in the centre)
