A large attic black-figure lip cup
End of third quarter of 6th Century B.C.
The interior black glazed with reserved line within lip, the exterior with black line below lip and reserve stripe on body, reserved edge to foot
Lip A and B: Herakles pursuing a centaur, both figures running to the right, the hero naked with club in his right hand, his left hand stretched out before him to catch the centaur in front of him who runs with head turned back towards his assailant, holding stones in his hand, his left hand raised as though to hurl one back at Herakles, added red and white detail, (repaired from four large fragments with very minor restoration)
