Cf. CVA, Switzerland 4, Basel 1, pl. 14/1, 2 and pl. 15/1-3. The Siren is especially favoured as a motif for column-krater handle plates of this type particularly in the group of the so-called "Three Maidens Painter". For a discussion of the painter cf. J.L.Benson: "The Three Maidens Painter", AJA 73, 1969, p.109ff.
