The case in the form of St. Giles gothic turret with a pinnacled belfrey on a corona of flying butresses rising above the balustraded tower, the angles of facetted stone pillars surmounted with unicorns each bearing the flag of St. Andrews, the sides set with semi-precious stones in the form of tracery windows, the balustraded base supported on reposing lions on a purpose-made blue velvet-covered stand on an ebonised plinth with bun feet, the dial formed as a rose window with raised gilt chapters and blued steel hands, the French twin barrel movement with platform lever escapement and strike on gong, solid rear door engraved McKay, Cunningham & Co., Edinburgh
