Including several group portraits of native women with their children, a fisherwoman, a Fakir with long fingernails, weavers, tailors, devil dancers, a Bengal snake charmer, a man with a monkey, a carpenter and villagers outside their homes. One photograph includes a wooden crate with the name Lt. [?] S. Oehme. This is thought to refer to the photographer F.S. Oehme, a commercial photographer in Chandernagore (Chandernuggar) between circa 1875-99. Other prints from this area in West Bengal are titled in French, including one slightly larger print of a study of boat-builders, probably on the banks of the Hugli at Chandernugger, and are probably also by Oehme.
