The present watercolour shows a view of Lucknow with the stone bridge of Asaf ud-Daula over the river Gomti in the middleground. In the background to the right is the Mosque built by Aurangzeb. The figures in the foreground in the elephant procession are that of Ghazi ud-Din Haidar, the Nawab of Lucknow from 1814-1827, and his men, and also the British Resident (probably J. Mordaunt Ricketts).
