Harry Bright was the eldest son of Henry Bright (1824-1876). Bright, senior is best remembered today for his anthropomorphic watercolours of frogs, see the catalogue of the sale in these Rooms 12 June, lots 88-90, but he was also a painter of birds.
Harry Bright was much influenced by his father but developed his own style becoming particularly well-known for his depictions of small song birds. He illustrated Birds and Blossom, 1879 and The A.B.C. of Pretty Birdies, 1896.
