Plain octagonal and with detachable domed covers and baluster finials, each engraved with a coat-of-arms within a baroque, shell, scroll and foliage cartouche, marked on bases, sides, necks and covers

The arms are those of Parradine, as confirmed by the Visitation of Essex in 1664 and recorded on the funeral certificate of Thomas Parradine, a gentleman, (d.1628) buried at S^t Mary le Bow, Cheapside, London. The arms are possibly for The Rev. Robert Parradine who married Elizabeth, daughter of Dr. John King (1652-1732) at Canons Asby in 1712. (2)

The Hutchinson family of silversmiths who worked from the late seventeenth to the middle of the eighteenth century were based in Colchester, although they registered marks in London and sent pieces for Assay in the capital as with the present lots.
