Geneva, circa 1810, maker's mark BS with torch between, with later French import marks
Formed as two resting dogs, each cover painted with a liver and white pointer within split-pearl border; one with scrolling foliage on matted ground within opaque bands of blue enamel around the sides and with a shaped panel of sunburst guilloché pattern framed by a band of partially enamelled anthemion on the base; the other with acanthus leaves on matted ground enhanced with bands of opaque enamel around the sides and with shaped similar panel bordered by cones and pellets on matted ground
