A RUSSIAN GOLD CIGARETTE CASE BY MOROZOV,
the rectangular hinged case with fan-reeded decoration and cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, the interior with stamped mark for Morozov and workmaster initails I.P.

The firm was founded in St. Petersburg in 1849, by Yevdokimovich Morozov. As well as selling goods by other makers, he had his own workshop as a master goldsmith. The firm continued in existence until 1917. Master foremen working for the firm were Anders Johann Seppanen, Fredrik Tiander, and a master with the Cyrillic initials I.P. and B.K.
